Murder is a deliberate act which exposes the worst of human traits. Rich and poor, old and young, male and female; it knows no social boundaries. From pre-Roman times until today, murder has a heinous history. Often it is a domestic incident where the assailant is quickly identified, a confession might even ensue. But it is when the act departs from the family that the odds against conviction grow. Where to start looking? Here are five murder cases where family involvement was quickly ruled out. Motives were said to range from robbery to revenge. Four are officially unsolved, but the fifth is officially solved, with the conviction of a nineteen year- old man, but was he really guilty? And why was a lady battered beyond recognition in her own kitchen? Gentleman traders brutally bludgeoned, and the postal clerk ruthlessly gunned down? These five cases cover the period from the mid 1930s to the mid 1960s; from a time of executions to a time of enlightenment and abolition.

Unsolved Murders of the North eBook Jim Morris
I buy a lot of True Crime books; books about unsolved murder cases, Serial Killers, missing people, organized crime, and real life mysteries. Criminology is my passion, and this book written by mr. Jim Morris will be a good addition to your library if, like me, you enjoy reading and learning more about Unsolved crimes and obscure cases.
- The murder of Henry Warner ( 1948 ): On Wednesday, March 3rd, 1948, 77 years old Henry Warner was found beaten almost to death. He was taken to hospital, where police waited at his bedside for a few words that might help them find his attacker. But he died without recovering consciousness.
- The murder of Winifred Sharp ( 1966 ): A man walked into a Bridgend, Leeds, post office on the afternoon of Thursday, June 9th, 1966, and fired three shots. The first one proved fatal for Mrs. Winifred Sharp, 50, a counter assistant, of Cross Heath Grove, Leeds. There were no other customers in the post office at the time.
- The murder of Emily Charlesworth ( 1945 ): 22 September, 1945. Emily Charlesworth is murdered in her home at 4 Ravendale Street, Scunthorpe, in the Lincolnshire. A man named Thomas Henry Ramshaw was later charged and acquitted. Who committed the crime, and why ??

- The murder of Oswald Walker ( 1936 ): On Saturday March 14th, 1936, mr. Oswald Walker was found beaten to death. He was known always to carry two wallets. When his body was found, one was in his pocket, the other was missing.
- The murder of Margaret Dobson ( 1938 ): On Tuesday, January 18, 1938, 67year-old Margaret Jane Dobson left her home at High Grange Farm, Wolviston, north of Stockton, at 4.30pm. She told her husband, Henry, that she would be back at about 6pm but, when she failed to return home on the last bus, Henry and farm hands began searching for her.
As you can see this is a very solid list of cases, all of them are obscure and are not listed in a lot of True crime books. The author did a wonderful job researching all of these complex cases, the book is well written and always interesting, a real page turner. I always enjoy discovering and researching new cases, so I had a great time reading this book. The book is a little short, only 128 pages, but overall I highly recommend this book to anybody having an interest in Criminology and to anyone who enjoy reading about obscure murder cases. Enjoy ! :)
